Staff Qualifications

Young people need Christian examples to follow and we seek staff members who are deeply committed to the Lord Jesus Christ.  We are looking for staff members who have a heart to minister with the gifts and talents God has given them.  Sharing your faith and being an example to youth is a privilege and a great responsibility, therefore our concern is to find capable people with a high degree of Christian maturity and enthusiasm, who are willing to serve Christ by serving campers.

General qualifications include:

  • A heart to serve others
  • A personal life which exhibits that Jesus is Savior and Lord
  • A desire to communicate personal faith to campers
  • A genuine enjoyment of working with campers
  • An ability to work well with other staff and campers
  • A love for the outdoors
  • An ability to mingle with campers at the camper’s level
  • An emotional maturity that is readily seen
  • Physical maturity as needed for each position

Summer 2012 runs from June 1-August 3, however, some staff will be needed until August 17.  Summer consists of seven days of training (June 1-8), and youth camps through August 3.  In addition, we will be having a rental group at camp July 14-20.  We will need 6-7 staff to stay for that week, but there is an option to take an unpaid week off during that time.

Positions

CounselorsCounselors live with cabin groups.  Responsibilities include supervision for the cabin group, individual spiritual counseling, teaching skills classes, leading small group Bible studies and assisting in chapels.  We make an effort to find counselors who also have abilities or a willingness to learn in one or more of the following activity areas in which campers participate throughout the week:  waterfront activities (lifeguards), canoeing, sailing, outdoor education/nature skills, water skiing, air riflery, archery, outdoor sports, music, drama, crafts, and other skills individual counselors may bring to use as a tool to minister.

Program Staff – Positions include: Summer Program Director who is responsible for the daily operation of summer camp including all other summer staff.  Service Team Coordinator who is responsible for the Service Team members and their duties at camp, Arts and Crafts Coordinator who is responsible for all that happens in the craft shop, and Waterfront Director who coordinates and supervises all water activities which includes assigning lifeguards for teaching waterfront skills, life guarding during free time and helping with evening waterfront activities.

Office Staff - One Secretary is needed to help with registrations, daily banking, sorting mail, and other assigned office work.

 

Terms of Service

All Full time Summer Staff are needed for the entire Arrowhead programmed summer camping season.  Some staff may be hired earlier or remain later in the season, and work in other capacities until their summer assignment begins.  There is a base pay of $210.00 per week plus room and board for Full Time Summer Staff.  The base pay of $210.00 per week may be increased to $250.00 per week by participating in the voluntary AST Program.

Arrowhead Support Team (AST)

The Arrowhead Support Team is a low key, soft-sell program that allows you to build a team support system.  It helps you and us raise funds that go directly into a Staff Scholarship Fund thereby enabling us to increase your salary.  It will also help you find prayer partners who will be committed to you for your time at Arrowhead.
