I love the church! I love my current church, past churches I have been a part of and the body of Christ as a whole. But sometimes we get these weird ideas that are pretty dumb. Example: I feel like there is this unspoken notion within Christianity that when you go to church, you have to act like you have it all together, that you have no problems. Think about when we walk into church and someone comes up to us with a hand shake and a “How are you doing?” How do we respond? “Fine, thank you. The Lord is good!” Rarely do we break rank. Oh sure, we are eager to share about our son’s baseball tournament or our daughter’s honor roll recognition but not very often does the conversation turn to marital strife or struggles with sin. Indeed, everyone seems to have life on a leash, like a cute, fluffy, white puppy that never poops on the floor.
